The history of Shukokai Incorporated is the history of the research
and development of cancer vaccines. It has concentrated its efforts
on the clinical application of cancer vaccines for more than fifty
years when no one else showed an interest in cancer vaccination.
In more recent years, international research studies have discovered
scientific evidence that the body's immune mechanisms can recognize
and eliminate cancer, which has led to a global awareness of the
potential for cancer vaccination.
Shukakai Incorporated, a leading pioneer in cancer research, recognized
that while it is important to create a cancer vaccine to prevent
cancer, treating cancer is even more urgent. So, in 1990, Shukokai
Incorporated opened Hijirigaoka Hospital in Tama City, Tokyo, to
manage the whole process of cancer treatment from early care to
relief care. Then, in 1999, it participated in the promotion of
local elderly welfare by opening Hijiri-no-Sato Elderly Health Care
Facility adjacent to Hijirigaoka Hospital.
At Shukokai Incorporated we consider cancer to be a phenomenon
of aging and advocate that our patients understand their illness
and participate more personally in their treatment. In cooperation
with the Immunotherapy Conference, a Non Profit Organization (NPO)
started in 2001, we are working hard to help our patients live out
their lives happily by reducing the negative affects that come with
the worry and anxiety of cancer diagnosis.
